CDC needs to observe and investigate this outbreak carefully and determine if this is really the COVID-19 virus or some other pathogen. This outbreak whatever it actually turn out to be is immensely disconcerting. These quarantines, however impressive the photo, are leaky and ineffective. Airline service from Italy to multiple points in the US is continuing.

As I told my wife a some days back, this pandemic scare is going to affect world trade. That is bad. Our own stock market is down almost 2000 pts since its high of almost 30,000. I keep telling my wife to sell more before the DOW hits close to 26,000. She has liquidate half her holding into cash. I keep asking her to buy me a boat. I get no.

I sold every equity I had in Dec. 2008. I was late to the table for the recession, but didn't get nearly as hammered as most. I knew it was time to liquidate. I even fired my broker for not seeing the stupid ridiculous mortgage requirements forced on banks/loaners by the Liberals. Then you had the dumbass banks bundling and buying those worthless loans. Sheesh, what could go wrong?

Now, a couple of the dem/socs say let's do it again. I'm starting to believe that other than Sanders, not one democrat candidate actually believes it. They're just pandering to the indoctrinated youth. They can't be that stupid.

One of my students on semester abroad to Rome told me all his field trips have been canceled. He was supposed to go to Pompeii for some excavations but has to stay put in Rome.

Over 350,000 Chinese live in Italy, the largest population being in Milan. Milan is locked down, along with nine other cities in the manufacturing area of northern Italy. No mystery why this region is affected.
