I’ve read that folks who survive stomach surgery to reduce weight also no longer have the diabetes disease...

Remember there are two types of diabetes.
I am a Type 1, but I still have people tell me if I lose weight or do some diet they’d heard about it will “go away”.
It’s such a pain planning everything you eat and having to compute insulin boluses.

I know a person who had a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band installed. It is not considered to be a dangerous surgery and typically requires no hospitalization. After she lost a couple hundred pounds she had no more difficulty with type 2 diabetes.
I used to believe that the surgery was completely unneccesary, but after witnessing the results from people who struggled with obesity for decades... I an now an advocate.

True but they also have loose unsightly skin flaps and a compromised immune system for the rest of their lives plus digestive issues. And somewhere down the line you'll have your gall bladder removed (more digestive issues). Plus at least one that I know personally on top of all of that now has some food allergies they never had before. It's invasive and expensive whereas intermittent fasting costs nothing. And no side effects.
