What?! Alchemy?! I don’t think so. The Ecat "cold fusion" system is claimed to work by transmuting nickel (element 29 in the periodic table) into copper (element 28), giving up energy (and a proton) in the process.
It shouldn't be more than three times as difficult to transmute lead (element 82) into gold (element 79). ;-)
