> XML. That’s why they cant read and process memes. Hmm.

well, XML and derivates are just protocols... and a protocol is just a data stream encoding and a state machine with timers. In particular, a protocol is not AI.

I have never before considered it until now, but to identify memes, one would first need text recognition. Then, one would need to apply it to all photos and videos posted on the net. Then, I imagine that one would need some type of AI to recognize humor by applying face/form recognition to the accompanying photo or video, figuring out the humor, and then identifying whether it is “friend” or “foe” humor.

Then one would perhaps need a large object database in which to store both types of memes, for quick lookaside translation to augment the AI and to store labor intensive manual overrides to compensate for errors generated by the AI algorithms.

Finally one needs the power and ability to “zot” unfriendly memes from selected friendly and neutral sites. (The ability to flag unfriendly sites is already up and running in some form, as “parental controls.” or “deceptive site,” “pornographic content site,” etc. management.)

That is a very heavy amount of processing, even if performed in parallel. It is perhaps not impossible (and one can imagine Red Chinese working on this exact stuff right now) but I wonder how long it will be before we see it in the USA (of course, there are always worst case scenarios, but to be effective those have to posit the taking down of router hubs, volunteer ham radio stations, and... oops... :) )

And that was your first thought? Wow. Good start.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This could be why the left, in general, have no sense of humor and cannot meme.

The essence of the left (not classic liberalism!) is to suppress individualism in favor of group-think, group-values, group-work etc.

On one level this means more government; but, there is also the ever-increasing integration of all organizations under the "Great I.T. in the Sky." This is what allows the people with the most direct access to banking and financial markets to control organizations despite, frequently, having little real knowledge of the business.

THIS IS THE REAL TERMINATOR RISK, in my opinion: Not that the A.I. will exceed human intelligence, but that humans will voluntarily dumb down into subservience to the things machines do well, like swift calculations, huge databases, rapid machine-to-machine communications and, of course, instantaneous updating of financial statements, cash flows etc.

Of course spirituality is excluded from machine intelligence, so this crucial dimension of being human is highly at risk in our new society of information technology. It is no accident that atheism is a communist trait, and that the Marxist globalist forces are primary proponents of controlling society through soulless information systems. (cf: Chinese social credit system, a new weapon of tyranny.)

ON A SLIGHT TANGENT: Socialism is NOT an economic system; it is a theory of government.

As far as we have come with computing power and creative algorithm development, we still can't get a general purpose computer program to correctly parse the following sentence without any hard coding.

"Time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana."

We may get there some day but we are not there yet.

Was digging around in MOS rabbit hole after your post on media/XML stuff and found this.

APACHE - [not an acronym] name for an open source HTTP/web server

- a Patchy Server
~~~~~~~~~
I had a duh moment over this one. APACHE = A Patchy Server.
I will have to go back, look and see how many times Qanon mentioned APACHE and what was involved. Do you remember by chance how it was mentioned?
Sometimes I feel like we have been sucked into a virtual board game of CHARADES with the Phonically challenged Cabal.
