Ping.
Yes. I accidentally walked past customs and security at the Dublin airport a while ago. Went right past it while following someone I thought knew what they were doing. I realized my mistake soon after and expected to go through all kinds of hell. Irish officer realized it about the time I did, but just shrugged his shoulders and waved at me to go on. In the USA, I’d probably get at least get an orifice check for the mistake.
I believed this ‘inattentional Blindness’ is nothing more than one of the most common human traits.
That trait is that we believe that “we see what we see”. That “we hear what we hear”. This is not true.
The subconscious picks up everything, but the conscious develops habits/patterns/likes/dislikes and these things distort the information.
For example, ever lost something? Like car keys. Look around everywhere. Can’t find them? Sooner or later you finally find them, right where you started from, right where you thought they should be but ‘knew’ they weren’t.
You told yourself they weren’t there. Your subconscious ‘distorted’ your information to match your ‘command.
I think the entire moronial generarion could walk within 6 inches of an exploding volcano 25 times a day while pretending it doesnt exist if they are expected to sweep a single gram of ash off of it
My ex accused me of that all the time...
