The Washington Post did a nationwide poll of Native Americans a few years back concerning the Redskin’s name. Over 90% of Native Americans said they weren’t offended by the name, basically they didn’t care at all.

The truth is the vast majority of those who are offended are white liberals. By continuing the ruckus over the name they’re telling Native Americans to sit down, shut up and let white folks decide what’s best.

There were many complaints about the methodology of that survey, so a couple of years ago the survey was redone with improved methodology.

The results shifted by less than 2%.

The term ‘Redskin’ isn’t about anyone’s skin color. It’s about the coloring applied to the skin of certain tribes warriors.

I’m not sure that any of those tribes inhabit Minnesota. Most of the peoples were in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Pennsylvania/NY area, and most prominently were part of the Five Civilized Tribes - whose representatives formally requested their state be named after them.
