I mostly lurk, but I think the significance of watches is to specify dates. 12 hours on a watch, 12 months in a year, etc. So a watch set a 4:15 would be April 15. Set at 10:30, would be October 30, etc. They may be used to indicate other things, but that is my understanding of the matter :-)
Apart from time and date of something we should look out for, it can be important to look at the reflective surfaces of the watch (the silver parts). In the last one we clearly see an elongated 45.
