There is nothing cruel about it. Nor is there any lack of sympathy. But to dodge the truth, which is a cold and hard one, does no one any good, least of all those needing to come to term with what has been done.
To dance around the issue, with the possible outcome that you’re too sensitive to their feelings to risk their disapproval of you (never mind that she is likely not in this conversation), would be unmerciful. Not just towards this girl but towards those who might read the article (who are in this thread, even if not commenting) and decide abortions can be when they never really are.
As for this woman: she revealed the matter herself. This wasn’t someone else’s doing. Moreover comments here are not necessarily directed to her and the conversation does not insofar as I know involve her. Should her asserted feelings, which you don’t really know, rule here where she is not?
I avoid a lot of the Life thread because of what seems to me to be unnecessary cruelness and unchristian behavior towards people who, like this little girl, was pushed into something she was unprepared for because it was way beyond her years.
I’m done, feel free to continue to stone her without anymore push-back from me.
