Another ‘tutorial’ I saw on Griddle Stitch used an even number of stitches for the starting chain - she always ended each row on a single crochet, too. Everyone has their own way of doing it, but the main part is the same. You now have a name you can ‘google’ & check out all the variations! :-)
I guess I must luck out and have an odd number without counting. The difference it makes is in the edge. Although I always crochet some kind of trim around any blankets. For this baby one I’ll do some kind of scalloped trim and run some ribbon through.
