So, while I still have some viable foodstuffs in the garden, this is the time of year I start pulling my spent determinate tomatoes, cukes, zukes, pole beans and a few other things and cleaning up the beds for Fall.

Since this is my first Fall with a greenhouse, I’m digging up a rosemary plant and some pepper plants to see how long I can keep them going into the Fall.

Beau brought me a HUGE bag of straw from the barn and put it in the greenhouse. He’s bear hunting right now, so I’ll take advantage of extra time that I’m OUT of the kitchen these days and use those hours in the garden pulling, weeding, cleaning and mulching for Winter.

Nice day - breezy, going to be in the low 80’s, but it’s not humid, so pretty darn perfect!

I have the smallest of our chest freezers defrosting today and will work on the other two (HUGE JOB) as the week progresses. Looking forward to it about as much as I would a root canal, LOL!

And, now that I’m pretty much done with my canning (still have Tomato Jelly & Pepper Jelly to process) I also need to rotate and organize my improvised ‘root cellar’ under the stairs. That can wait for a rainy day. ;)

Sounds like you had another action packed day.

Yikes, sounds like me 20 years ago as far as labor, except for the bear hunting. Keep us posted on how the greenhouse works out. If I had one I would be starting all kinds of greens. My lettuce seed are taking forever. They are done flowering for the most part, they look like they have seed pods but they are still green. Can I cut them and just hang them upside down to dry or wait some more. We are into the rainy season here.
