Being a Bama Alum, I hate to say that “Yea Alabama” does not belong in the top 10, especially when they play it as fast as they have in recent years, and Auburn’s “War Eagle” does belong there, based strictly on the melody and beat of the two songs.
But it’s fine with me if all those other school’s have a better fight song, though I’m not really that familiar with several of those chosen.
I would think, that Jail House Rock, would cover most of these major universities as a theme song.
I loved Alabama’s even before I knew what it was.
Back in the 50s and 60s at our high school games the loud speaker would play various fight songs before the game began.
My favorite was “Yeah Alabama” before I even knew it was that.
I do agree that the million dollar band has managed to mess it up.
Maybe the music isn’t that great, but I’ve always liked the line:

GIVE ‘EM HELL, ALABAMA!
