Arrogance. He got off with a slab the last time - daily work release in county lock-up - come on. He hangs with the elite - they are above the law.

In a safe in his home. Probably an expensive one not casually broken into. The problem is that this was an obsession of his. Which means he HAD to have them. Where could he keep them? Hidden rooms? Let a friend hide them who could blackmail HIM?
He’d gotten the light slap and it was past. He probably thought his money could buy legal protection so they’d never see the light of day and, again, he HAD to have them.
Epstain did the tile/carpet removal (extraction?) during the previous investigation/arrest, not the recent one, from what I can tell.
I get the opposite sense. Think how many people he has 'on the take' in the PDs and gov't to warn him. This operation had to have been leak-proof or he would not have come back to the US.
I also bet he has a dozen plans to get out of the country if he has to. That judge better not give him bail. The naked pics of little girls in the possession of a registered sex offender should be enough to send him to real jail for a couple dozen years.
