“Do you understand how RBI works? You have to have someone on base to knock them in — this is out of the batter’s control. Pete Rose was one of the best hitters in the history of baseball, so he was on base a lot. This is a perfectly logical statement by Rose, though it is debatable whether Bench would still be in the HOF or not.”

So... what you’re saying is there was absolutely nobody else on the team that could have made a base hit? Is that what you’re saying? Because I do not believe that Rose was the only person on that team that could ever get a base hit.

There’s the problem with your logic. Even in the years Bench was MVP, Rose had on-base percentages of .383 and .386... Not particularly good for a lead-off hitter with very few net stolen bases.

You sure argue like a liberal. Of course there are others who can get a base hit -- the problem is not that they can get a hit. Obviously, it's that Rose did it so much better, therefore leading to more RBIs for hitters that came up after him.

Obviously.

But you knew that. You just wanted to act like a jock itch liberal. Congrats. you succeeded. You can get your participation plaque. Come back when you can argue reasonably using intelligence.
