Donald Trump, China Savior? Some Chinese Say Yes
NY Times ^ | Apr 2019 | Li Yuan

Donald J. Trump has referred to China as “our enemy.” He has called it “a major threat.” “Remember,” he once wrote on Twitter, “China is not a friend of the United States!”

Some people in China have their own label for the polarizing American president: savior.

“Only Trump can save China,” goes one quip. Others call him the “chief pressure officer” of China’s reform and opening.

Their semi-serious praise reflects the deepening despair among those in China who fear their country is on the wrong track. An aggressive outsider like President Trump, according to this thinking, can help China find its way again.

The Communist Party has become more involved in business, the economy, public discourse and other elements of everyday life. Many of these elite fear that after 40 years of reform and opening up, China is retreating. To make matters worse, nobody at home appears willing or able to fight the trend. President Xi Jinping has become the country’s most powerful leader since Mao Zedong, hurting the chances that internal opposition can push back.

Then came Mr. Trump and his trade war...

Trump wants to make a deal that is good for us, but also for China, which is important, to be able to have an agreement.

Of course Trump is on could save the entire world, not just the US, not just China, but everyone.
He just isn’t able to get it done in only 6 years.
I’m beginning to hope that one of his sons will run for president, because I don’t see anyone else around who can carry his torch.

It is not important that any “deal” be good for China. I don’t give shi+ about China, their economy or anything else. Neither should you. I only care about what is good for America and American workers.

The Communist Party has become more involved in business, the economy, public discourse and other elements of everyday life.

The Party never left. The machinery of control and surveillance has always been there. Its only a matter of how much use the whole apparatus gets from the top for their political needs. Xi Jinping has dusted it off, oiled it up, and turned up the gas on the apparatus of state control, monitoring, and political indoctrination. Anyone over 40 sees the old "leftist" slogans returning. Some welcome it. Although not as bad as Russia in the 90s, many Chinese also feel the corruption and oligarchs got out of control.

“It is not important that any “deal” be good for China.”

Well this is why Trump is the master of the deal, and you aren’t.

Unwise attitude. If Trump & China can achieve a plan where we both do reasonably well, no problems. But if we somehow screw them over until their situation becomes desperate, they will feel forced to become violent and strike out. Actually, that’s Bible prophecy. An army of 200 million crossing the Euphrates from the East and into the Middle East, as prophesied, can only be the Chinese army.

Trump has traitors for trade advisers. You know, people like you. If it were up to Trump and normal people we’d have 25% across the board tariffs now.

I think only DJT is capable of being Donald Trump. Hoping a son can carry on for him is grasping at straws.

Of course Donald J Trump is the only person that can be him, but I think one of his sons can be closer to performing like him than say, vice president Pence.
By July the Democrats would have Pence rolled over, and articles of impeachment presented by the end of the year

“Trump has traitors for trade advisers.”

I’m pretty confident Mr. Trump knows better than you who he should listen to when it comes to trade advisers.

Free Traitors™ should read to the GOP platform pre WWII.

We reaffirm our belief in the protective tariff to extend needed protection to our productive industries. We believe in protection as a national policy, with due and equal regard to all sections and to all classes. It is only by adherence to such a policy that the well being of the consumers can be safeguarded that there can be assured to American agriculture, to American labor and to American manufacturers a return to perpetrate American standards of life. A protective tariff is designed to support the high American economic level of life for the average family and to prevent a lowering to the levels of economic life prevailing in other lands.

In the history of the nation the protective tariff system has ever justified itself by restoring confidence, promoting industrial activity and employment, enormously increasing our purchasing power and bringing increased prosperity to all our people.
