In latest shot at Mexico, Trump proposes U.S. penalty for drugs

President Donald Trump, hammering on a favorite theme, on Friday said he was considering slapping Mexico with an unspecified economic penalty to crack down on what he describes as a crisis of undocumented immigration and drug trafficking on the U.S.-Mexico border. Although Trump has several times linked the issues of illegal immigration and drug smuggling as he tries to tighten border security, much of the drug trade is not carried out by migrants but by professional crime gangs that send narcotics to the United States in vehicles through official ports of entry. Praising Mexico for moving recently against drug traffickers, Trump said, “If they continue that, everything will be fine. If they don’t we’re going to tariff their cars at 25 percent.”

After all it could be worse is the absolute worst defense of inaction. No matter how good the economy is what have we gained if we lose our culture and country to invaders? I love this man, Trump but something has caused him to become all hat and no cattle in the immigration issue.

Trump is right to place tariffs on imports from Mexico. Tariffs will completely stop this trafficking and immigration if high enough. The Mexican government must be made to understand that they will no longer financially benefit from their ‘inability’ to control their own borders.

Sure, Reuters, all the drugs come thru in trucks. So I guess the cartels kidnapping people to use them as mules to get drugs across the river is just a figment of our imaginations.
