well, for Luddites like myself, they have an option on their website to link a phone number to ones prime account for the purpose of getting the whole foods prime discount simply by subsequently giving the checkout clerk the phone number, pretty much the same as any other loyalty card checkout at other stores ....

When I give my Safeway or Raley’s club member card # to the clerk,they don’t have any access to any of my credit cards.
After I log on with my phone# or club member card, I then insert the credit card I will use that day into the standard credit card reader.
It just seems backwards, clumsy and potentially dangerous at this time.
