Now you have to bear the consequences of your own state's tax structure and you want to blame it on someone else. Next you'll be complaining that Trump took away your Obamaphone.

How can you have a deduction legal since 1862 when there wasnt an income tax from the end of the war until ~1916. For that matter, my interest is sincerely piqued that you deduct expenses for something niche like that has remained apparently relatively unchanged since then. Could you deduct difference engine expenses then? Lighter than air ship costs? Steam engine self oiler replacement? 😜 Levity is involved here of course...
