Incidentally, it is my view that this was the meaning of Abraham's original willingness to sacrifice Isaac. He was a pious believer in the old ways. Then God stayed his hand and ended the practice, similar to the way Jesus shattered the bondage of the laws of Moses by sealing the New Covenant through his crucifixion and resurrection.

Incidentally, March 18th is National Supreme Sacrifice Day. (Who knew?). This day "honors those that have made tremendous sacrifices for the sake and the good of others..."
