Sounds too familiar!
I was in Bozeman. Nice place, but you have to like cold and winter sports. At least 5k feet in elevation. I only got Spring when I drove out of Montana in June, for my summer assignment.
I remember sometimes in late May, we’d get a day in the high 40’s or so and the college students would lay outside on towels getting some sun - shirtless - careful to put their towels on a place with no snow.
Tip: roads that lead into Montana also lead out.
