So far, it sounds like he's still playing negotiate, compromise etc. when the DIMRATS will not give him a gnat's fart's worth of cooperation or serious compromise.
He'd do well to have a very heavy duty response to be applied swiftly within 24-48 hours after a contrarian or no response from the DIMRATS. NO MORE MESSING AROUND. THIS IS WAR.
The DACA + TPS “provisions” are merely kicking the can post SCOTUS - it’s just an extension he said so Congress has time to review and come up with something. 3 years takes it to 1st year next term when he hopefully has House back. Thus why it’s a “non-starter” for Chuck & Nancy. It will pass the Senate and then Nancy will at least have to put up for a vote in the House.
I’m pretty sure this is his way of telling the public that “look I’m negotiating - see all the stuff I’m willing to do?”
Then when they don’t play ball at all he will be able to come back on and say. “I tried folks - they refused everything I tried so now I have to declare the emergency in order to protect you.”
Again - he’s not doing these public live broadcasts to talk to us political junkies - he’s doing it for the folks that only pay attention once in a great while.
I’m not happy about the DACA/TPS stuff but he had to show he was giving something more up.
