“Rampant”? Yet all you have is your word on this? You know movies aren’t real, yes?

You must live a different life than I do. I have never shrunk away in the presence of a PO, never worried while sitting next to one at a light, and better yet, never stressed when pulled over for doing something dumb. I don’t live a life that causes me to fear them. Do you, then? As I have stated before- THEY haven’t caused the atmosphere, but must react to it. When you drive drunk or high, it’s not the cop’s fault, but it IS his job to protect the rest of us from you. He doesn’t want to leave his zone to drag your stinky butt to jail because he caught you with meth in your pocket, but that’s the law and he fears that while he’s dealing with your sorry a$$, something actually serious might be happening while he’s gone. You see, he knows better than you and me, who and what is really out there and the last thing he wants to do is NOT be there. You have NO idea what it’s like to be a cop, or what kind of person willingly dons that uniform and does that job.

I rarely DO a vanity. Better and better paid writers usually get to it first. But 2 cops were shot in Birmingham the day before yesterday and that IS news; wanting and WISHING it to stop leads to activism. As to who hates vanities...? I pushed and squeezed and tried really hard, but found my sympathy for his feelings was constipated. Long walk? Short pier?

Thanks for the post, a simple “Please explain yourself” would have done nicely.

Instead I’ll address your condescending post in all its glory.

I’m not a meth head. I understand it’s common for police and their avid supporters to assume that everyone else is a criminal though. I get that.

As far as having no clue about being a cop, lets do the run-down.

I come from a family of police and fire fighters. My grandfather was the Sheriff of his town. He used to come home and beat his 8 kids to within inches of their life. Has broken just about every bone in my mother from the time she could walk. Beat my grandmother when things weren’t perfect. Made kids sleep in mud and the floor of the chicken house.

My uncle is a cop too. He has a rap sheet and frequently uses his position (Of the past 20 years) to do things illegally whenever the chance presents itself.

I used to live across from the police department in Ansonia CT. One of the most corrupt forces I have ever witnessed. 2 known drug pushes in uniform and several addicts on the force.

When I get pulled over, they usually clear leather and get ready to shoot me. They’ve been doing since I was young, because you know... teenage punk needs to be shot and all.

Just 2 months ago I was pulled over for an expired inspection sticker on my truck. The cop impounded the vehicle and left me stranded in the countryside with my 4 year old. We had to walk 5 miles to a phone, then another 3 miles back to the impound lot. He also drew his gun while walking up to me.

Several area police stations are clients of mine too. I have a relationship with our local Sheriff and the constabulary. I am familiar with the Eric Frein case where they hid evidence that Eric had that the cop he shot molested his nephew. It didn’t go down properly, but I can tell you that Eric did his due diligence and was simply bullied around town until he snapped. Again, I don’t condone it but I do understand that this force has covered up evidence. Oh, and this is the same state force that followed me for weeks pulling me over everyday because i had listed on Facebook that I would transport people (A hoopty cab)

So yea, I break laws. You do too. Everyone of us does. The police response has consistently been too much at best, violent at worst.

So we each develop our opinions based on our own life’s experiences. Police do not “Know better than you or me”. They are human beings with a terrible, terrible SOP and a vast amount of them have power issues.

And btw, just to clarify it IS the fault of the SOP. The SOP announces anyone who is not a cop is a criminal and must be dealt with. it’s “Trust no one” taken to an extreme. The cop behaves like that because he is trained to behave like that by very, very bad training curriculum.

Remember: During riots the police are between the rioters and town hall.

Not the homes, not the businesses. Their job is not to protect anyone, their job is to protect the municipality.

And that breaks my heart- YOU know. I tell my son and my husband every day to say their prayer, just to make sure they are out there with their very best Partner. As a wife, mother, daughter and granddaughter of police officers, I know what it takes to be a family member, loving these people and worrying about them. Even if the cop killers are caught, they are “heroes”, ESP in jail. Many prayers for those family members left behind. I know Ofc. Toney’s (Gwinnet County GA) mom still suffers with her son’s death.

Well, I am sorry about that. When I say howdy to a PO, I always get a greeting back. I was stopped a bit ago for not wearing a seatbelt (another law the police don’t want to enforce), that guy responded to my friendliness with returned friendliness and a big smiley face in my warning.

When I was a kid a German Shepherd got it’s teeth into my ass on it’s way to getting the hot dogs I had just bought. Years later when I was delivering mail another German Shepherd came through a screen door trying to get a piece of me. Nowadays I carry a .38 when I walk my little dogs and wouldn’t hesitate to shoot an another attacking dog. But it’s not the actual aggressive dogs we are talking about is it. It’s when cops blast tail wagging friendly dogs. That’s about as filthy and low as it gets.

The condescension wasn’t aimed at you, specifically. It was a general “you” in the post. As TO your post, WHAT kind of hellhole do you live in!? I lived in New England for many years, and yes, I have family members on departments up there as well (CT and MA), and still, I have never even heard the stories you tell. If it is so bad, as you say, why haven’t you done something about it? The media would drool over such a story. I’m sorry- you strain credulity.

but it IS his job to protect the rest of us from you

+++++++++++++

actually the Supreme Court ruled that the police’s job is to enforce the law. They are not required to protect anything.

The Walter Scott that was being arrested on a warrant? The Walter Scott who had several drug arrests? That Walter Scott?

This is for all. OK kids, it’s been 3 days of playing in this particular sandbox, but now I must move on to more important things...like getting my nails done. It’s been a slice. Really! A couple of you seem to get it- most of you do not. After all, “I hate the cops” is so, SO, fashionable. Funny how some claim to hate cops- until they need one, of course.I mean, who else are you going to call when your kid won’t get up for school, you lost your cell phone, or they forget your fries at McD’s? When YOU do something stupid, it just HAS to be the cop’s fault, yes? And I mean, really, who are they anyway? “Robocops” without homes and families, yes? They aren’t nearly as important as YOU! You aren’t personally responsible when you act like a dumbass and are so sure- after a couple of tall ones- that you CAN take on the bouncer who just threw you out, or that you drive “better” when you are high, or “she had it comin’” when you punched your wife in the face. “Personal responsibility” are two vital wordss many of you really need to learn. In the meantime, if you don’t want to get shot, don’t point a weapon at a cop. If you DO, I pray he gets you first.
