I was visiting in Colorado, up on the divide. My friends came home from fishing and gave me a fresh trout. I cut off the head and tail, fried it up. It smelled good cooking, couldn't wait...
Absolutely the worst tasting fish I ever had.....blechhh....couldn't even finish it.
Out West, I've had sunfish, bullheads, catfish, even big carp, but unlike the trout, none of those tasted like ripe bait. I guess trout look better than they taste.
Should have just gutted it and fried it in butter. Meat flakes off, Pull the bones and give the skin to the dog. They must of caught it in wastewater tailings.
Nope...Trout are excellent...But they need to be fresh or stored correctly like those other fish you like...Perhaps they baked in the sun on a rock for a day or two before you got them...And Brook Trout have a taste of their own, which is excellent...
Perhaps from a trout farm?
