if your looking for burdock or similar - there is a Japanese version that can commonly be found in asian food stores, Whole Foods, Mustard Seed, and Trader Joes carries it all the time. In Japan they call it Gobo. My wife uses it a lot in various ways. cross cut rounds, long thin slices. raw in a salad, stir fry, tempura fried. Very versatile.

We found it

Spouse took her Greek language herb book to a Chinese doctor in the bay area....he didn't speak or read English or Greek...but he recognized the Latin name.
