Keith Emerson’s “Christmas Album” is great. Above is a song called “Snowman’s Land”. These were songs he composed and played for his friends and family. They persuaded him to put them on an album.
Obviously with some help with the orchestra, children’s choirs and vocalists. GREAT album.
Below is “Captain Starship Christmas” with the children’s choir:

This one is ancient. It brings me tears of medieval joy.

Thank you for that detailed and exhaustively supported review. I shall certainly take it into consideration when selecting my Christmas playlist.
None better than this: Father Christmas by the Kinks.

So moving.
I am a little surprised by the number of novelty songs on the thread. I can’t figure out if my leg is being pull or if there is a bit of mischievous elf in a lot of FReepers.
My family was Episcopalian, but we didn’t practice anti-Catholic bigotry. We considered Catholics to be fellow Christians.

My friend was/is Episcopalian; he said he’s “J.v. Catholic”. At the Bush funeral — Episcopalian — they read some chant that referred to the Catholic church. Confusing.
Gonna throw some good 70s R&B in there too: This Christmas (Donny Hathaway’s original version), and Christmas Just Ain’t Christmas (O’Jays).
