It’s also poor manners to be armed when criminals are not - best to provide guns to them for equality’s sake.
Make them sit in the filth they created.
In basic training, I had to sit at attention on a concrete pad for two hours on a 20 degree December day. We all had our field jackets on but unbuttoned with our t-shirts exposed and one arm totally exposed. Whatever.
Next progressives will tell us it’s very demeaning to have a suspect handcuffed while detained..
THEY is the key, the SF city council and mayor
Police all over the country frequently have suspects sit on the ground or curb.
This idiot Chief needs to watch some Live PD.
And they can still do so if it is necessary. But it is no longer an accepted general practice to force every person to submit to police authority by being ordered to sit down.

Interesting. How many people have you arrested?
I guess having them stand with their nose to a wall or tree is also verboten.....maybe cops need to carry folding chairs in the trunks....keeping them cuffed and on the ground is a safety thing...keeps the messed up ones from falling and hurting themselves and makes it more awkward for the violent ones to get into more trouble.
“Interesting. How many people have you arrested?”
Why don’t you rephrase that and ask me how many times I was needlessly subjected to this kind of treatment?
I was 16 to 17 when this BS took place and posed absolutely no threat to the dicks who made a habit of doing this to teenagers.
Yes. I gathered that may be the full extent and perspective of your experience with the subject of effecting field arrests.
I encourage you to request an officer ride along with your local pd.
Best to you.

My local PD is now a Constitutionalist sheriff’s department. I have no such problems any more.
