It’s interesting that everyone working in Antarctica has to have a Top Secret clearance. At least used to a few decades ago.

A couple of college friends worked through winter down there in the 90’s (they like couples because it helps the sanity factor). They were at McMurdo. I didn’t think they need sec clearance there, but I’d have to ask them. They might have to sign NDAs from the angle of “What happens in Antarctica stays in Antarctica”, because winter is long, dark and cold...

Things have changed. Looks more like Home Depot requirements except for the citizen part.

In addition to the required job skills, all candidates must pass strict physical and dental examinations, a psychological examination for winter positions, a pre-employment background check, a drug screen, and proof of U.S. citizenship.
