Since everyone knows that “Q” exists, you know the government “Q” claims to be hiding from, what is the point of talking in code like some sort of middle school kid with a decoder ring?

It is the tactic of the left to misrepresent their opponent's position and then attack that misrepresentation as if it were his actual position(straw man argument).
You argue like a leftist. Q, true or not, is the farthest thing from a middle school kid that you can get. Many very intelligent people follow Q. Some, like me, are 80% (+ or -) convinced. I've been following Q for over a year and I am very watchful for any telling mistake. He hasn't made one.
He has, however, dropped information and posted pictures that suggest some high level of access to information not generally available to the public.

It’s not about codes like middle school kid. It’s also not about spoon feeding us Q watchers.
Q’s method is to drop hints and then for us to dig and figure out stuff for ourselves. Sometimes we guess wrong. But, regardless, we dig and we end up with more useful information to use against the domestic enemy than if Q just fed us like we were drooling idiots.
But, by all means, please, keep allowing the msm to tell you what to think and believe.
There are so many on FreeP that do just that. Talk trash about how the msm is always lying to us and then getting on their knees to suck down and swallow whatever the msm pumps out for them.

It's because of whatever position in our government Q holds, a position some say requires Q level clearance, he/she/they are unable to reveal information which many at best will construed as sensitive/classified and illegal to reveal.
This is why Q MUST present things the public needs to know as a question, open source leads, & etc.
Apologies for the shortness of my fellow QFers. It's a fine line between answering a question, which is a tactic trolls use to waste our time, or being snarky, which dissuades trolls, but also turns away those who are honestly looking to learn more about Q.
