The creche was a gift to the White House in the 1960’s. It wasn’t displayed then because of court rulings about nativity scenes in government buildings. It is an 18th century creche from Italy.

I’m sure she really busted her ass putting all those decorations up. I wonder if she wore those stilleto boots up into the white house attic to get all the boxes down. Must have been hard...
No wonder the Liberal Press Poo-pooed it. I don’t think the WH ever looked that great. What next, having the outside gold leafed? I bet a couple of former 1st ladies are fuming over the foreign B!tc# in the WH.
Beautimous!
You wrote “Garish and a waste of money.” A tasteless comment. I’m sure you would say the same of the Rose Bowl or Macy’s Parade, or even the Sistene Chapel.
Nice have some class in the WH for a change. Much nicer than that fake Kwanzaa hooey and sexual filth.
Rose Bowl or Macy’s? Yes. Sistine? If done in the White House, yes. OK for an Italian chapel. Or an Italian bordello.
A creche! That takes some balls.
Love to see a life size one on front lawn of Executive Mansion.
Beauty loves and understands beauty....
I remember reading about that.
Disgusting.
Our FLOTUS is such an artist! She has painted a grand picture for us this Christmas! I didnt know how she would top last years decorations. From the Red Rooms Be Best decorations to the Red Forest corridor! There wasnt a good picture of the Be Best Wreath in this set of pictures but it is so unique. Such a wonderful way to highlight Melanias Be Best initiative!
I loved this years White House ornament and the red ornament like balls clustered at the bottom of the trees in the main hall. Anyone with small children and pets knows that is where they end up! Such a clever idea!
Our FLOTUS has blended a cutting edge sense of creativity, tradition & elegance.
I would love to know how FLOTUS came up with it. The Red Forest of Sintra, Portugal? Red is one of the Christmas colors and cranberries one of its fruits. The trees are so dramatic against the white corridor and green carpet. Bold. I love it.
18th century Neapolitan creches are famous the world over. There’s even museums dedicated to them.

My parents’ generation were all born in Italy, and the presepio (creche) was always a huge deal at Christmas. Wasn’t as fancy as these of course, but each of my aunts and uncles had their own pretty elaborate set, carefully and lovingly arranged under the tree. My dad says when he was a kid, the presepio could take up a whole room.
Spot on
It was stunning but I was hoping to see something else with it.
I think FLOTUS has many talents we are learning about. She certainly has very good taste.
They’re all wonderful, but I think that’s my favorite of the bunch .. the soft focus is perfect, and I’m imagining that far-away look on her face to be of childhood memories . . .
Isn’t that typical. It looks as if they just threw stuff at the tree to see what would stick. Good grief.
Perhaps you should study your tagline again, Mr Rogers.(Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools) I can just imagine what a life of the Christmas party you always arelike a turd in the much bowl
Carp, carp, carp
