Watching TV ads in a hotly contested Congressional district, NY 19, I can say that the “pre-existing condition” issue won the day for the Democrats.

Yup. Democrats made mountains of hay with that in PA and WV too. It's the dead hand of John McCain striking one last blow from the grave.

the "pre-existing condition"

It may have been a winner for the democRATS only because nobody is willing to call it what it is....cost shifting.

Insurance is a pure bet, meaning that there isn't an existing condition that nullifies the pure bet that you're disease free and they will pay if you get one.

You wouldn't issue insurance on a car that has already been damaged in a crash and needed repair.

I saw those commercials myself. This Democrat house victory was a two-pronged Attack. Peeling off white suburban women with the pre existing conditions lie and massive provisional voting. And then a major coordinated spending advantage. Democrat commercials out numbered Rs 5 or 6 to 1.
