I think they are incompatible. It’s amazing it took them 8 years to realize.
The only Trump supporter that I know who abuses his family about the fact is my ex who torments his mom. He is an ex-liberal and she has written him out of her will. IMO the money is what this is about far more surely than the politics. I know Proggies who will cut you off without a thought, but Trump supporters are by and large a practical bunch who love their families.

My wife turned on him eventually, after voting for him. She is still a conservative, but just doesn't like how unpresidential he is. I get it, I am not a huge fan of all the antics, but she hates him personally now, and has started falling for some of the fake news. Me, I dont like the antics, but I am still a staunch supporter of his policies, and if I really asked her, she would be too. But we dont talk much politics about TRUMP, we keep it to the policies and we are good.
What normal woman describes her husband as “alt-right”? That is a media expression used to demonish any non-squish conservative as racist. Sounds to me like fake news.

I went through this some time ago.
My wife told me that I was not interested in discussion, and I had a tendency to lecture and refused to listen. This was back in the Clinton Administration.
Thankfully, I listened to her that day, and started leaving room for discussion and alternate opinions. Our conversations became much more civil, and my volume dropped from 11 down to a 3. Over time, we have become much more similar in our political opinions, and are no longer cancelling each other out every Election Day.
Husbands, you are in this for the long haul. You are not trying to win an argument today. If she doesn’t agree, she is entitled to her opinion. If you do not respect her, you will not have to deal with her for long.
If your husband was smart, he wouldn’t leave you any choice.
