Absolutely great scene in Mad Men. Couldn’t be more true.
Point is, they don’t know themselves.
Eventually, when enough of yourself has been invested, and contempt has set in, she’ll finally ask herself.
The answer will be ‘not you’.
Then she’ll leave. She’ll find someone else, decide she screwed up, and then think she can come back.
But she can’t.
