A college classmate, whom I have also worked with as an engineer, is originally from Nigeria and tends to look at the “urban ghetto jive culture” with disgust. When encountering such “jive”, he responds in perfect British Empire English with only a hint of native accent.
Yep, I have several Nigerian friends and they feel the same way.
A black guy at my gym I thought was from the Caribbean due to his faint British accent and going to college in Canada turned out to be Fijian. Dunno why the accent, never been there.
