It might be a calculated risk on Grassley's part, but I believe that the goal is to give the dems plenty of rope on this one so that they can hang themselves. With the way they've played this with so much zeal, I think the left has overplayed their hand. And overplayed it to the point that the effort will end up so tarnished that no future attempts will be believable without a boatload of evidence.

Which is how it should be. The burden of proof is on the accuser, not the accused.
