>>Just sayin’.... watch on antenna TV or on a TV in a public place and you don’t add to the official viewership. Also, don’t buy tickets or gear. Only problem is there won’t be football if the NFL doesn’t smarten up and keep paying fans supporting the NFL.
<<

It isn’t the contribution to revenue. It is my heart.

When I see the players on the field all I see is the ones kneeling. The taste in my mouth is so bad it is like kissing my ex-wife.

I just can’t physically do it.

Agreed. Football is for Saturdays, Jesus gets more of my time on Sunday than the rest of the week.

My interest in the NFL basically halted after Lombardi passed away. I kept a cursory eye on post season and even fell asleep during a few Superbowls I decided to watch.

The anthem protests sealed it.

Want to see a great game?

1958 NFL Championship game

or perhaps 1995 week 7 Broncs @ KC Elway vs Montana (Monday Night) which I happened to watch.

Miss the Super Bowl but still want to see the commercials? YouTube comes through evertime.

NASCAR will be next, it's already creeping in there.

NASCAR's problem today and into the future is sponsorship.

Ratings are down, but they’re down across the board for other sports and shows as well. Millennials and younger generations than that have changed the way they access content.

I agree. I think the kneeling controversy by itself has had minimal impact on viewership but it has contributed to the overall bad publicity the NFL has suffered to include off-field behavior and TBI issues. Mostly, football has become tedious to watch with so many penalty calls and play interruptions, I also think Millennial disinterest plays a part as well.

The Washington Huskies are not on the field during that time. But the band plays “America the Beautiful,” rolls out a huge American flag, then plays the national anthem. All food sales are suspended during the national anthem. Being a Washington native and UW alum, no one is more surprised that they still do this than I.

It’s true. I know millennials that have no cable service at all and therefore don’t even really need a TV. The TV is just the monitor.

Hulu, Netflix, Apple TV, etc... is how they get all their content. And with the popularity of Fantasy Football, the NFL RedZone show each Sunday dominates viewership for those that play. And that can be streamed.

Only in this case, long before politics hurt the NFL business, the league itself had destroyed the entertaining aspects of the game.

It's like the question regarding a tree blown down in the wind. Do healthy trees get blown over, or diseased dying trees that only needed an additional push to finally fall?

The ghetto hijinks, play interruption, interminable commercials, rules for this, rules for that, I mean, years before this controversy, I was having a hard time maintaining any interest.

That's why it's so easy for so many to simply no watch in the first place. I'd guess a large number of those boycotting were already mentally prepared to focus on something else.

And like any good competitive spirit, gee golly, a suitable replacement in the form of much more exciting college ball just so happened to be there.

I don't think the networks have an accurate handle of how Millennials are watching programming.

The NFL won't take a serious hit until the network TV contracts are up for rebid. From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_on_television it looks like the earlist of those is after 2021. Until then the contracts are worth about $5 billion per year.

What the NFL players are doing is not “in protest of racism.” IT IS RACISM.

At its best it was a savage, violent game.

However, so much of it has been neutered by new rules passed in the name of player safety, it’s become a boring slog.

Terry Bradshaw was right. You might as well put the quarterback in a dress.

That’s cool but quite surprising. Since the university is in Seattle I figured they’d fly the Soviet and/or the Antifa flag and play “The Internationale”. I guess I’m looking for a team whose players and coaches are also on the field just like the NFL used to. I still remember the Bud Grant days in Minnesota.

You make a point here.

It’s just ‘Football League’.

This is fine bumper sticker fodder. Cross out the N.

It’s The Football League. Nothing special about that.

So instead of replacing him they give him a big bonus and renew his contract. Idiots.

That's the straw that broke this camel's back. It became blatantly obvious that the NFL as an organization has little to no respect for it's fans. Why should I part with my hard earned cash, or spend what precious little time I have on patronizing a business that doesn't even like me?

To: I want the USA back

I read 70% of players are felons.
Supposedly the are protesting that the police was ‘rough’ when they arrested them.

Poor little delicate flowers! They want special treatment because they are rich.

Good point. I was starting to lose interest too. All of the 3 and outs and low scoring games were incredibly boring.
