Two key Republican senators signaled to President Donald Trump that he could replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions after the midterm elections in November, a move that would open the way for firing Robert Mueller or constraining his probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
The presidents entitled to an attorney general he has faith in, somebody thats qualified for the job, and I think there will come a time, sooner rather than later, where it will be time to have a new face and a fresh voice at the Department of Justice, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who may be in line to head the Judiciary Committee next year, told reporters Thursday. Clearly, Attorney General Sessions doesnt have the confidence of the president. ... That represents a significant shift from Grahams stance a year ago, when he warned Trump publicly that if he fired Sessions there will be holy hell to pay.
Senator Chuck Grassley, the current Judiciary chairman, also changed his position on Thursday, saying in an interview that hed be able to make time for hearings for a new attorney general after saying in the past that the panel was too busy to tackle that explosive possibility.
Asked about a possible replacement for Sessions, Grassley took a different position from a year ago, when he warned the White House he didnt have time to do another confirmation hearing that year. ... I do have time for hearings on nominees that the president might send up here that I didnt have last year, Grassley of Iowa said Thursday.

Who the !@#$% makes up these rules?
Start counting down, maggot. Your Deep State days are about over. The sooner, the better. America needs an AG that cares about this country and its Constitution.
Gotta keep the Senate. Kick Grahmnesty upstairs I say.
Haven’t they hinted that they won’t confirm a replacement nominee? That would make Rosenstein the Acting AG.
If Ted Cruz loses in November (which he won’t), he’d be a great pick.
The needle and the damage done. Sessions has farked PT with the mueller coup.
To hell with firing him, round him up in the dead of the night and ship him to gitmo.
It seems stupid to do anything before the new military tribunal law is effective 1/1/2019. Get it?
“... the panel was too busy to tackle that explosive possibility...”
Too busy not repealing Obamacare or else on vacation.
Easy for them to say. The damage will be done and the House might be lost.
“That would make Rosenstein the Acting AG.”
He already shares that title with Mueller.
Cruz has made too many enemies on both sides of the fence.
He would never be approved by the Senate.
There are better picks out there that are not Senators.
Thoughts?
I’d settle for a “popular tribunal” a la the French Revolution.
Not so sure about those two sources...
I am surprised that the President keeps dissing Mr. Sessions, not that the AG does not deserve it, just that isn’t there anything the President can do now? (other than complain about Sessions?)
Sessions will not be fired.
Never pick a Senator or ex-Senator for anything. Worthless members of the Corrupt Bastards Club.
But, but... “Trust Sessions.”... /s
“I am surprised that the President keeps dissing Mr. Sessions”
I guess the President didn’t get Q’s drop where he’s supposed to “trust the plan” ... hmmmm. :-P
I bet he will after the elections, especially if Rs add seats in the Senate.
Gee...they’re finally catching up with the rest of us.
(I guess they never heard of Q)
