SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) The San Francisco Department of Public Works announced Wednesday it will assemble a new team, known as the Poop Patrol, which will be focused on cleaning up human and animal waste throughout the city.
The team, which will be made up of six people a supervisor and five workers, is part of a pilot program set to start sometime in September, according to public works department spokeswoman Rachel Gordon.
Reports of waste are normally handled largely through service requests, meaning residents will call 311 to make a report and DPW crews come to clean it up.
The new team, however, will take a more proactive approach, scouring hot spots in the city, looking for waste to clean up.
We will still be responding to service requests, Gordon said. Its just the latest method were looking at to keep the city clean.
The new Poop Patrol team will complement the citys Pit Stop program, which provides staffed public toilets in the citys downtown areas.
According to Gordon, the program came about following a conversation between Mayor London Breed and Public Works Director Mohammed Nuru. The pilot program currently has no end date.
Well be monitoring it regularly, at least monthly, if not more frequently, Gordon said.
We definitely know theres been concern about waste on the streets and were going to see if this is one way we can address it, she said.
Jobs created by the new Kalifornia economy!
Hope one of them bags Pelosi.
Imagine putting that title on your resume.
The real solution would be Sani-Cans dispersed around the city where the homeless are located.
Cue the theme to “Streets Of San Francisco”
Shovel ready jobs!
New crappy jobs to match an economy that is in the toilet when compared to the rest of the country...
Poop Patrol? ...Should have called them the “No $hit Sherlocks”
The Poop Patrol, how nice..Id say this only happens in Commie San Francisco but this also happens in SoCal too..just last week my Mom went to the bank and saw a woman pull down her pants and pee right next to a tree outside, everyone in the bank saw it..and this bank was located in Beverly Hills, honestly people have lost their shame, to do that in public
Talk about “the ____ detail”!
Why not have a “Hoover” vacuum installed on every homeless persons ass?
As long as they’re not spending any of my federal tax dollars, SF and Cali in general can do anything they want. Lost cause. Kissed them goodbye some time back.
Feel sorry for FReepers who live there.
How much does it pay?
What are the requirements?...........
I even have a motto for that job,
“It’s Soup.”
I don’t know what the requirements are for the job but I’m sure we don’t want to meet those people.
Sorry, that’s just another finger in the dyke solution.
Oops. Did I just say that?
It’s an old occupation. Look up the origin of the word “shithook”.
Glad to hear that they are cleaning up, but it’s a shame that people have to use the streets and parks like a toilet.
Is it just me-or is there something just strange about staffed public toilets-are they going to be stolen or vandalized by the users?
