I can answer that. In Stephen King’s The Stand, one of the heros in a retarded guy, Tom Cullen, I think. He couldn’t read or write, but he could spell MOON.

So, whenever a big thing was happening, Tommy would say, “M-O-O-N, that spells trouble, Nicky!” or MOON could spell Bad Man, or any number of things. Usually Tommy spelled it when there was trouble afoot.
