Attorney General Jeff Sessions Issues Statement on DACA Court Order

Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued the following statement on Friday’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) order in the U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia:

“We strongly disagree with the district court’s decision on Friday in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) case. The executive branch’s authority to simply rescind a policy, established only by a letter from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, is clearly established. The Department of Justice will take every lawful measure to vindicate the Department of Homeland Security’s lawful rescission of DACA.

“The last administration violated its duty to enforce our immigration laws by directing and implementing a categorical, multipronged non-enforcement immigration policy for a massive group of illegal aliens. This wrongful action left DACA open to the same legal challenges that effectively invalidated another program they established—Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA). DAPA’s implementation was blocked by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and never entered into effect. These two policies declared by officials of the previous administration—by policy letters only—had been considered by Congress and rejected.

“The Trump Administration’s action to withdraw the policy letters simply reestablished the legal policies consistent with the law. Not only did the Trump Administration have the authority to withdraw this guidance letter, it had a duty to do so. As former President Obama previously said, the changes they attempted to effect through this policy letter can only be lawfully achieved by congressional action. The judicial branch has no power to eviscerate the lawful directives of Congress—nor to enjoin the executive branch from enforcing such mandates.

“We have recently witnessed a number of decisions in which courts have improperly used judicial power to steer, enjoin, modify, and direct executive policy. This ignores the wisdom of our Founders and transfers policy making questions from the constitutionally empowered and politically accountable branches to the judicial branch. It also improperly undermines this Administration’s ability to protect our nation, its borders, and its citizens. The Trump Administration and this Department of Justice will continue to aggressively defend the executive branch’s lawful authority and duty to ensure a lawful system of immigration for our country.”

Generally, a chinese firewall. A organizational structure that has a "firewall" or "filter" that prevents certain people from seeing certain things.

In this case, Mueller is trying to hide evidence from the defendants, so the judge is allowing a firewall.

In trials, the usual firewall is the judge, personally, who reviews ALL the evidence, and decides what part the defense is entitled to see. CIPA is a form of firewall when defendants are charged, and parts of the case involve classified material.

Zaid explained that if Concord wants to show some information to outsiders -- say, a subject matter expert -- the company's U.S.-based lawyers would have to seek permission from the firewall counsel first. The firewall, in theory, protects both U.S. government secrets and the defense strategy.

Criminal prosecution declined?!?!

They way I read that, Steve, is that this SA accepted bribes and did all manner of other crimes and was not criminally charged by the FBI at the time. The IG got his mitts on it and is describing it all in this report and giving it back to the FBI for action.

I'm curious to know who they are talking about. Seems to me, it's somebody related to the Hillary investigation per the part about the SA giving false information to the police in a criminal investigation (Weiner laptop?). That's the only case I can think of that also involved local police (NYPD).

Bottom line is, I think this Special Agent for the FBI (G-man) is still in a heap o' trouble.

A version of it passed as part of Defense Authorization 2017 (search for "disinformation").

I don't see that link either. As far as I can tell, social media, like the press, if free to propagandize freely, including restricing public participation to opinions it shares, or at most, some "authorized dissent" so as to create an illusion of being fair and open.

This bill orders and authorizes the government to propagandize abroad, and to study propaganda.

My brother lives in Texas. I love Texas. I wish the whole nation were like Texas.

The “Trust the Plan” has become a mantra. If you dare to say that you DO trust the plan, but where they heck are the arrests - you get pummeled.

Q got pissed at us the other week for questioning the progress. OK. I can accept that.

But let’s put this in context. He told us Angela Merkel is Adolph Hitler’s daughter! Now, I believe this. But if true, then reveal it! He said he would - in time. When?

Q said there were photos and video of Obama in Muslim garb firing automatic weapons at the American flag. There are videos of Hillary hurting children. And these will be released.......well, I guess someday.

I am a decent human being. I am a Christian. I hate seeing people hurt, and I hate seeing injustice. I hate seeing the guilty get away Scott free.

But if we say that on the Q board, we don't "Trust the Plan" and are terrible, awful, impatient, unreliable human beings.
