You’re not moving a stock like FB with single holder trades unless the holder is a serious principal and the blocks are outside of the volume of the principals ordinary options exercise for operating funds.
A drop like FB had occurs when material information disseminates, often after hours or into a weekend, and there’s no one willing to buy it on the subsequent open at anywhere near the previous trade price. If the news or information turns out to be inconsequential or confusing, the “gap” (large hole in the chart, up or down, bereft of trades) will get filled.
The resilience of FB will be displayed if that gap gets filled, if trading doesn’t travel back up and through it, you’ll know they are in some deep poo.
Probably over the next week or so also, you’ll see ripples from these drops, there are going to be big loss/gain positions associated with holdings and hedges on the affected stocks. The market in general is probably pretty skittish now, the herd can break and stampede in some direction at a moments notice.
