Had something like this recently——recurring sinus infection that finally mad it into my jaw.

Megadose of antibiotics and prednisone, nothing else would cure it.

Go to a doc, if you wait you could get really sick, lose teeth, etc.

"I also recommend going to see an ENT. I used to be a nasal spray junkie. I used so much Afrin®..."

Was given Afrin by a friend's father who was a doctor, back in the early 70's to help clear my sinuses. I continued using both Afrin, and generic brands of nasal spray until 3 years ago. When I went to the ENT after I'd quit, he told me I was lucky...that he had seen people who had used nasal sprays for years that ended up with actual holes inside their nose. I use Breathe Rite nasal strips every night, and saline solution occasionally. The ENT told me I have a deviated septum, but didn't recommend surgery, which is fine with me. I may snore more, but there's nobody here to complain...so who cares. At least I'm off that crap.

As someone suggested, see a dentist or ENT. Infections in the mouth/teeth can cause heart failure. Don’t mess with it.

Once you get that cleared up, a holistic support for general gut health is kefir. You make your own. I get mine from cheesemaking.com

Go to a real doctor!!! Why risk your health trying quack remedies (silver?!). Doctors solved mine after years... sinus blockage, infection, allergies.

My surgery came about because I developed Thyroid Eye Disease. They had to do an orbital decompression, and back then, the only way to get to the eye orbit was via the sinuses. So, I had the standard (for that time, circa 2002) rhinoplasty in order for the ENT and eye surgeon to get into the eye orbit. My wife was convinced that before the surgery I had sleep apnea. They didn't get around to ordering a sleep test until after I'd recovered from the surgery, and I tested negative for sleep apnea. The recovery from the sinus surgery was pretty tough, but it was totally worth it.

I’m not kidding. While you should see a Doc, in the meantime, get Vick’s or a Vick’s-like rub with camphor, menthol and eucalyptus. CAREFULLy massage a little into your face over your sinus areas - inside corner of your eyebrow, middle of your cheek right under the middle of your eye, and along your nose. The massage alone is helpful, and the Vick’s really gets things moving out of your sinuses. I hope you feel better soon.

Wow...that was quite the surgery. Glad it got rid of your condition. I was tested for sleep apnea too, but it was negative. Still have post nasal drip, but it’s nothing that I can’t deal with. I’ve had four surgeries on my abdomen since 2010, and hopefully I won’t have to have any more in the remainder of my lifetime.

From the small town Dr who was sanctioned by the AMA for refusing to prescribe antibiotics for viruses ...

1/4 teaspoon of SALT in 1 cup warm water.

hang your head off the edge of a bed

use eyedropper or straw to fill nasal passages (both sides) with solution

let gravity work

Cover nose with towel and sit up

Repeat as necessary

Find you a herbal store that carries pure herbs to make loose leaf teas out of these:

Plantain, saw palmetto berries, golden seal, bayberry bark.

Plus if you have access to a sauna or steam room(gym) ...buy some menthol crystals where you can use it a little bit in the sauna. I swear it clears up my sinus in minutes.

Plus buy a warmer or infuser and place a few crystals in them next to the bed while you sleep and enjoy a restful sleep

I have had sinus issues all my adult life, went to dr. for sinus infections 3 months in a row, 3 antibotics, sent to ENT and was told some people just have sinus issues, he didn’t see anything wrong.

Went to (as some put) a holistic quack, and recommended the colloidal silver (a natural antibiotic) for a sinus FLUSH, it works wonders. Not the least bit worried about turning blue (that’s just flushing out sinuses) no ingestion.

Anyway my holistic gal is on a 6 month vacation so I can’t get hold of her.

I have a severe issue using Vick’s my skin looks like a sunburn and feels the same way.

So that’s where I’m at.
Thanks for all suggestions

I think doctors and antibiotics (if necessary) can go hand n hand with holistic. For years our family has used www.earthclinic.com - it is a forum type place where you can click on an ailment and people have posted what worked for them. It is very concise and put together well. We have used the suggestions there tons of times over the years and they have worked. My husband used to laugh at me but now he says “honey please go to your quack website and see what they suggest”...he won’t own to it but he is now a believer especially after I helped him heal a bad diagnosed stomach ulcer and my parents diverticulitus!

A Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Nurse Phyllis Balch...Has been described as quackery by quackwatch.org (below). While I DON’T take either side, I think that the debate is interesting. I do have some of her books. I think that quackwatch has it’s own problems, sort of like the Southern Poverty Legal Center.

I had constant sinus problems for years with post nasal of nose dripping all the time. Had numerous doses of antibiotic and no help. Went to ENT and had CAT scan concluding that my sinuses were fine. Nueroligist figured it was neck muscles problems. With PT problems have reduced greatly. another option.

Had this problem for years.

It never really went away until I cut out caffeine for a year. I don’t have the problem now, and drink a good bit of coffee.

While I did have that problem the only thing that really helped was Mydol. It’s basically tylonol with caffeine in it.

Did the job most times.

Sinus Infections And Candida Overgrowth: Are They Linked?
Chronic sinusitis candida yeast infection

Do you suffer from chronic sinusitis? If so, you might be surprised to hear that there is a link between this frustrating condition and Candida albicans overgrowth. Your regular sinus infections might actually be caused by the exact same pathogenic fungus that causes digestive problems, yeast infections, headaches, and fatigue.
Chronic Sinusitis Linked To Sinus Fungal Infection

A 1999 Mayo Clinic study looked at a group of 210 chronic sinusitis sufferers. They collected mucus from the nasal cavity of each of these patients, and tested each sample for fungi and bacteria. The result? An incredible 96% of these patients had fungi in their mucus. In fact, the average patient had around 3 different strains of fungus in his or her mucus!

The researchers concluded that the traditional assumptions about chronic sinus infections (that only 10% were fungi-related) were wrong. In fact, they were caused by the body’s reaction to pathogenic fungi like Candida albicans. In patients with a sensitivity to fungi, the presence of fungal cells in the nasal cavity triggered an immune response that resulted in typical sinus infection symptoms: irritation, inflammation, and sinusitis.

This means that the usual method of prescribing antibiotics to treat chronic sinus infections needs to be reviewed.
Nasal Candida Infection Treatment Is Misguided

While researching the most common treatments for sinusitis on WebMD.com, the first option to appear on the list is antibiotics. Next are decongestants to relieve nasal congestion, analgesics to relieve any pain, and finally corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. These treatments are all either addressing the wrong problem or simply attempting to temporarily relieve the symptoms.

The one thing that is totally absent from this list is any kind of treatment for fungal infection.
Antifungals Not Antibiotics For Chronic Sinus Infections

Although most acute (short term) sinus infections are caused by bacteria, we now know that chronic (repeated, longer-term) sinus issues tend to be nasal fungal infections. In fact, 2004 study of antifungal treatments for chronic sinus infections found that applying an antifungal gel to the inside of the nasal cavity reduced inflammation and swelling in 70% of patients tested.

While antibiotics may work for acute sinusitis, they are not treatment for chronic sinusitis. Treating a chronic sinus fungal infection with antibiotics may actually worsen long-term effects. One short course of antibiotics can cause permanent changes to flora in the digestive system. This is important as the balance of healthy bacteria in the gut assists with immune response and this disruption may be responsible for pathogen overgrowth.

Medical science doesn’t completely understand the long-term effect that antibiotics has on this flora, and receiving the typical course of antibiotics for a fungal infection is cause for concern.
Temporary Sinus Infection Remedies

If you suspect that you are suffering from fungal sinus infections, following a Candida treatment plan can give you long term relief without visiting a doctor. There are some home remedies for sinus infections to immediately relieve symptoms until your Candida treatment begins working.
Candida Sinus Rinse

Rinsing your sinuses with a ‘Neti pot’ is a great way to remove fungi and bacteria from your nasal cavity. It also helps to fight the excess mucus associated with a sinus infection.

Use a small amount of salt with distilled water (follow the manufacturer’s instructions for exact amounts). Simply pour the saline water into one nostril via the spout and allow it to drain out of the other. It’s easier than it sounds and it can give incredibly fast, lasting sinus pressure relief.
Essential Oils Aromatherapy

Peppermint and rosemary essential oils are frequently used to combat sinus infection discomfort. The best way to get these into your sinuses is to steam them.

Add a few drops into a glass bowl and then fill it with boiling (distilled) water. Cover your head with a large towel and lean over the bowl. A few minutes of breathing in the steam and essential oils should give you some relief from your symptoms.
Long-Term Relief From Candida Symptoms

While antifungals can reduce your sinusitis symptoms, preventing them from coming back is another story. The only way to make your body less susceptible to fungal infections is to treat your underlying Candida overgrowth with cleansing, a healthy diet and regular probiotic use. By following treatment, yeast or fungi are less likely to cause an immune response and your sinuses won’t become inflamed.

Candida infections can result in a variety of different symptoms, and indeed a sinus infection is only one of many examples, affecting an estimated 37 million Americans. Luckily, you may not need to resort to steroid treatments or surgery to fully cure your chronic infections.
Start Your Candida Treatment Plan Today

The basics of the Candida treatment plan may be familiar to you by now: a low-sugar diet, some natural antifungals, and a great probiotic. The order and length of time on this diet, however, is vital to avoid a Herxheimer reaction (otherwise known as Candida Die-Off).

Our Ultimate Candida Diet program contains detailed information on the steps necessary to successfully treat Candida overgrowth. We’ll give you the steps necessary to feel your best and ensure that your symptoms never come back.

Could be a tooth/teeth abscess. If you have not had a dental check-up, it may be time. Those abscesses can release bacteria which can cause some types of inflammation.

Do I Have Candida?

Are you tired or fatiqued? Do you have sinus pain, congestion and symptoms that never seem to go away? Do you have to clear your throat during the day and have nasal drainage which wakes you up at night? If so, there’s a very high probability that you have a yeast overgrowth, fungal sinusitis or what is called a Candida Overgrowth.

While not everyone with a candida overgrowth has fungal sinusitis, everyone with fungal sinusitis has a candida overgrowth. Why is this? Candida colonize and thrive in a moist environment. They can infiltrate numerous organs throughout the body. For sinus sufferers, candida has spread to take residence in the sinuses and usually the throat, which can also cause thrush.

Find Out If You Have Candida – Take the Quiz >>>
Is Candida Overgrowth Serious?

Yes, but don’t worry, there’s a solution. A candida overgrowth can control your life and really make you feel miserable. You can eliminate it by following Dr. Ivker’s Candida program. Unfortunately, it does take a minimum 90 day commitment to follow the right process to get this under control. For some people it may take 180 days or longer depending on the severity. And people who take shortcuts end up struggling with symptoms for years. Because Candida can limit the nutrients that your body is able to absorb from foods and vitamins, candida can be a precursor to numerous chronic conditions and disease states if you don’t take action!

What is Candida?

Candida is a yeast that occurs naturally in the human body when it is kept in check by healthy flora in the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract). The issue occurs when something upsets the balance of bacteria in your body and this allows this yeast organism to proliferate and take over control of the healthy microorganisms.

Antibiotics are the primary cause. They kill off healthy flora that keep candida in balance. Healthy flora actually feed on candida as their main food source. Just one round of antibiotics can compromise this balance. Repeated courses in one year or over a course of years can create the perfect storm for a candida heyday. The over-prescribed use of antibiotics has created a candida epidemic in the U.S. and most are unaware that the majority of their symptoms are based on this root cause!

Other contributing factors which fuel a candida invasion are: birth control pills, chronic stress, an acidic pH , and the S.A.D. diet (Standard American Diet high in white flour, sugar, pastries, and yeasts, which candida thrive on). When you learn of the cause and effect of how candida can multiply, it should be no surprise why candida is such a common issue for the majority of us, and specifically for the sinus sufferer who has had repeated rounds of antibiotics.

It’s been estimated that up to 80% of the U.S. adult population has some form of candida overgrowth. Candida is also one of the most widely misdiagnosed conditions. Candida resides in the intestinal tract, mouth, throat and genitals; however it can burrow holes in the intestinal tract, enter the blood stream and then make its way into any organ of the body. It emits over 70 different toxins into the body. These toxins create numerous conditions including a laundry list of sinus conditions which plague the chronic sinus sufferer.
Symptoms of Candida

Allergy Season, Allergy-Free Season.

Not everyone has all symptoms, but many have numerous symptoms.

Feeling tired and fatigued? This is your first sign that you have a candida imbalance.

The more the candida have spread throughout the body, the more fatigued people feel. Again, when candida are kept in check, they live in the GI tract. When healthy flora are no longer available to keep the candida populations down, candida flourish, thrive, colonize, and spread. They become difficult to eradicate of as they live in bio colonies and they literally set roots, like an invasion of weeds piercing the GI tract (called leaky gut). They secret toxins into your system which causes pain and frustration including:

Sinus pain and pressure
Headaches or migraines
Sinus inflammation
Dizziness
Constant nasal drainage
Persistent cough
Hacking and clearing throat
Sore throat
Joint pain
Abdominal gas and bloating
Indigestion, heartburn and acid reflux
Anxiety
Vaginitis (vaginal yeast infections)
Rectal itching
Cravings for sweets
Inability to think clearly or concentrate

Hyperactivity
Mood swings and irritability
Diarrhea or constipation
Eczema
Depression
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Poor memory
Earaches
Low sex drive
Muscle weakness
Sensitivity to fragrances and/or other chemicals
Cognitive impairment
Thrush
Athlete’s foot
Chronic pain

How do I Eliminate Candida Issues?

The only proven way to get this under control is by following a 90 day plan to:

Restrict Candida’s Food Sources (restrict your diet of foods they thrive on)
Kill-off Candida with Powerful Anti-fungal Natural Ingredients
Replace the Specific Strains of Health Flora that Keep Candida in Balance
Balance pH in System, so Candida Can’t Thrive
Follow Exercise and Detox Program to Eliminate Die-Off and Candida Toxins

Candida Diet Recommendations

A great starting point to reducing candida is to AVOID these foods:

Trans fats, hydrogenated oils (margarine or shortening), and refined polyunsaturated oils such as sunflower, safflower, cottonseed and corn oil
Conventional red meat – grass-fed is preferred
Grilled and processed meats
Foods high in yeast (bread, pastries, baked goods, cheeses, vinegar containing foods, malt products, mushrooms, dried fruits, fermented foods, leftovers)
Refined carbohydrates (white rice, white flour, white bread, noodles, pasta, biscuits and pastries containing wheat, barley and rye)
Sugar
Fruit juices
Alcohol
Dairy products
Chemical additives and preservatives

Candida can be a difficult condition to get under control, unless you follow the right steps. Many who take an anti-fungal, but don’t follow the diet recommendations, detox recommendations and follow a plan will find that their candida will return. We’re here to help!
Supplement Recommendations for Candida

Candida Bundle: We’ve provided a simple way to get started. Many of the products shown below are already included in the Candida Bundle and are a part of Dr. Ivker’s first 30-day program.

Allimed: Published studies have shown Allimed to be effective against candida albicans. It’s the first thing Dr. Ivker recommends for sinus infections (over antibiotics) and for the treatment of candida. It’s been shown to address: 1). Fungal infections, 2). Viral infections, and 3). Bacterial infections. Antibiotics only address bacterial infections and studies have shown their ineffectiveness at addressing fungal and viral infections. Allimed is an ultra-concentrated physician’s strength form of Allicin.

Allimed contains 100% pure allicin, the active ingredient in garlic. Allicin is the “mother” substance that breaks down to form a family of compounds that have a beneficial effect upon human health and general well-being. Garlic has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments from hypertension and coughs, to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and diarrhea. However, nearly all garlic supplements are largely inactivated by stomach acid rendering them incapable of producing any allicin. Recent studies have shown that less than 5% of the potential allicin is actually released by the vast majority of garlic supplements. Allimed, manufactured through a patented distillation process, is the first garlic supplement to produce a 100% allicin yield.

Latero-Flora: Latero Flora normalizes the flora in the human digestive tract, aids in digestion and toxin elimination, and discourages the growth of yeast, fungi and other pathogenic microorganisms. Extensive testing on humans has shown Latero Flora’s effetiveness in indivduals with gastro-intestinal disturbances, food allergies, and candidiasis hyersensitivity syndrome (candida overgrowth), and fungal sinusitis. Bacillus laterosporus, the active bacteria of Latero Flora, was discovered in 1981 by a Southern California agriculturist visting a remote part of Iceland. This BOD strain has been most effective in replacing the healthy bacteria strain which control candida albicans in the system (they eat candida as their main food source).

The Candida Research and Information Foundation produced glowing reports from trials, indicating that no other product appeared to be as effective as LATERO FLORA at restoring the original, desirable bacterial balance to the human intestines, and thus aiding in many immuno-suppressed conditions.

Sinus Survival Probiotic: Because probiotics are live cultures, product freshness becomes a top priority. Sinus Survival Pro Biotic is carefully handled and manufactured often throughout the year, ensuring optimal product freshness for maximized potency at ingestion. We are so confident of our freshness that we guarantee Sinus Survival Pro Biotic to be at full label strength at ingestion!

Pro Biotic is formulated with Saccharomyces boulardii, a proven potentiator for good bacteria that removes pathogens from the gut. This action enables a more effective probiotic presence, encouraging a healthy environment for vitamin uptake and immune support. Candida impair the absorption of nutrients by coating the GI tract with a biofilm. This formulation of flora has been designed for the sinus sufferer and candida support to build healthy bacteria levels, build immunity and to provide relief for G.I. function to address acid indigestion, heartburn, GERD and many other stomach related issues.

Convenience: No refrigeration needed! Sinus Survival Pro Biotic has been scientifically formulated for room temperature storage.

Candisol: This is a physician strength anti-fungal that is usually only found prescribed by a physician.

For many years, the overgrowth of Candida could be addressed only with anti-fungal drugs and herbs. These anti-fungals, however, have been only partially successful. Now, there’s a better way. Because the cell wall of Candida albicans is made most of various types of fiber, cellulase and hemicellulase enzymes “digest” it, or break it down. As this occurs, the yeast dies, with no die off reaction.

For over seven years, Candisol has provided the most potent blend of plant based, fiber digesting enzymes available anywhere, and helped countless people live richer, fuller lives. Because of its success, imitations have begun to appear, most of which combine cellulase with mega-doses of protease (protein digesting) enzymes. Because protein digesting enzymes digest whatever proteins they encounter, they destroy the healthy bacteria (acidophilus, bifidus, etc.) that help to keep Candida under control, Since people who suffer with Candida already have low levels of healthy bacteria, this is clearly inappropriate.

In only weeks – and possibly even sooner – it will make a difference that you will find hard to believe.

Candida Balance: This natural formula succeeds in addressing overgrowth issues through natural means.

Cleansing Action helps support the body in its natural function of eliminating unwanted particles. The candida elimination program can cause a “die-off effect” where the candida toxins can make a person feel “fluish.” Candida Balance and Candisol help eliminate these toxins.

Soothing Agents in this special formula includes carminative herbs (ginger root, chamomile, cinnamon extract) that reduce occasional gas, bloating and cramping.

Pathway Oregano Oil: Oregano oil is known for supporting the immune system and has anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-candida, and anti-parasite properties. Pathway Oregano Oil is standardized to contain 70% carvacrol, which research shows to be the active biochemical in wild oregano.

And I’d do the sinus wash today again too with the silver. The resulting bone ache will not go on. If that was your first sinus wash like that.

I have had 2 sphenoidal brain surgeries so I’ve been there.

But I’ve been there. Get an antibiotic right in the sinuses only and flushing and adding colloidal silver, one of the natural antibiotics, is a good way to start. )
