In the 60s, that would have been a large diameter cigarette.

The progression of "phatfag."

60's - A large diameter cigarette.

70's - A Bob Marley joint.

80's/90s- Elton John.

10's - Jerome Corsi.

LOL - Corsi.

I remember seeing an old friend, while in my late 20s, that I hadn’t seen in 7 or 8 years. During that time, I was working out pretty hard, lifting up to 188% of my body weight. Anyway, when I saw him, he was astonished at how much bigger I had gotten.

His statement - “But, is it muscle or is it phat?” :)

God help me I actually looked Phatfag up. I found this, referring the Very Unreverend Fred Phelps

http://rc3.org/2011/01/11/fred-phelps-is-a-troll/

dealing with Reverend Fred Phelps and simply ignore him. If you’re not familiar with him, he’s the pastor whose tiny congregation pickets military funerals and other events with placards bearing hateful messages.

The money quote is in the comments from someone with the handle 'Franker':

But a “Fabulous Fred Phelps Phony Funeral Freakshow Feeds Phat Fags For Free Photos” would be a great counter-protest sign, especially if you could also get people to shout it 3 times fast.

Phat fags in this instance would be referring to media personalities...like Jer. I was impressed with all of those effs and no slips.
