Anything but the G-word, eh?
Never mind that verse in Genesis about Peleg.

Interesting article! i recall reading science fiction novels which speculated that life tends to remain simple on worlds without active plate tectonics.

Our finest scientists haven’t been able to create a single living cell. How can they have anything intelligent to say about any natural mechanism causing life?

Our finest scientists havent been able to create a single living cell. How can they have anything intelligent to say about any natural mechanism causing life? There certainly are some major gaps in this (and other) areas of our understanding. We may never know how life arose from inanimate matter. Did it happen just once in a single location, then spread, or in many locations over a period of time?
Something really weird must be going on within the kooky realm of quantum physics. After all, that is the level at which these chemical processes take place.

“We may never know how life arose from inanimate matter.”
I suppose the basic living entity is something that can reproduce itself and also feed itself, and there’s DNA in it.
A lot of atoms are strung together in a cell. It’s a system that constantly changes itself, reproduction being only one of those changes.

...
Unlike people who sit in their chairs and criticize, they put a lot of work into it.

How come it took billions of years for life to show up on land? Couldn’t God have done that from the beginning?
