The weekend began with seven people shot in just an hour on the South Side. It ended with 10 people shot in two attacks on the West Side.
By Monday morning, at least 56 people had been hit by gunfire in Chicago over the weekend. At least nine of them died(snip)
"Most of Chicago celebrated and enjoyed this weekend," Chicago police First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio told reporters,(snip) "However, we saw an unacceptable and frustrating level of gun violence in several communities.
“There’s too many illegal guns on the street,” he added, echoing a constant theme of his boss, Superintendent Eddie Johnson. “They’re too easy to get.”(snip)
The worst attack occurred as the weekend was winding down. Two cars circled a block where a party was being held in the 1300 block of South Loomis Street in University Village on the Near West Side and then at least two people opened fire.
Six people were hit, including a women in her 20s who was shot in the chest, left arm and head and died at the scene, police said. A 17-year-old boy was shot several times in the head.(snip)
A 28-year-old man was with a group on the Lakefront Trail near Balbo Drive about 1:40 a.m. Sunday when there was an argument and shots were fired, according to police.
Travis Perry, 24, of Oak Forest, said he was sitting on a ledge with several friends when he heard four or five gunshots and felt a bullet whiz past his face. He grabbed his girlfriend and got on the ground. He noticed a man lying facedown. “There was blood coming out of his back.” (snip) “It’s crazy. You never think it’s going to happen right there next to Michigan Avenue and the lake and everything.”

If we would have had that many wounded/killed in Faluja over a weekend, the MSM would have run non-stop coverage bashing America for being at war. But this is Chicago. 50+ gun battles over a weekend is barely an anomaly.
Actually it’s perfectly logical...on fathers day a kid wanting to honor his father realizes he doesn’t know who his father is and when he asks his mother ..neither does she. At some point he will realize he doesn’t know whether or not he is a father!!!

How does this keep happening? Chicago has such strict gun control. I just don’t understand it. How are these criminals getting their firearms ID cards which you’re required to have in Illinois before you can legally purchase a firearm. There are background checks and everything before you can be issued one of those - not to mention a lengthy waiting period - and of course age restrictions. Where’s the loophole? What further legal restrictions on gun ownership will make this go away? Maybe if they pass more laws to make guns extra special DOUBLE illegal that will do it.

You know, that's an interesting point. I would actually like to see a study commissioned to explore and predict when the "problem starts to take care of itself." Let's do some reasoning to get that idea started...
1) People are moving out of Chicago - Population should be in decline.
2) People are being killed by gun violence at a rate of about 800/year. Over 1,500/year are shot (not suicides) - Population (involved in crime) should be in decline.
3) Thug culture is growing in Chicago promoting more to join in the violence - Activity of violence goes up.
4) Chicago Politicians obfuscate and manipulate violent crime statistics to mitigate negative press about the violence in the city - Nobody notices there might be a problem in Chicago.
Will the attrition of humans in Chicago outpace the growth of the violent Chicago thug culture?
Because it is another way to kill those that they did not get while still in their mother's womb.
Acceptable and marketable for the socialists. Collateral damage. Death drives their agenda.
