Tesla CEO and PayPal billionaire Elon Musk surprised many Friday when he declared on Twitter that he is a socialist. Conservative critics, however, may well have agreed, given his companies reliance on the state.

Interesting, but what?
James Stuart Mill skewered Betham with his own writings.
And how?
________
This is the sort of thing capitalists said a century ago when it looked like socialism was the wave of the future.
They wanted to say, "I act in the interests of society, and I do it a lot better than the government or the socialist parties would."
If socialist ideas are really coming back and gaining traction, you can expect to hear more capitalists talking like this.
I don't think he means that he's ready to join Maduro or Kim Jong-Il.
GREAT NEWS!
Let’s confiscate his $$$$$$$$$$$$$ immediately...
“from each according to his means.....”
ha!
So in other words....he’s a typical socialist.
His money is his.....but he via the government, should get to tell you how to spend your money and should fund his companies. He should get to run them, but with your money which the government takes from you by force.
Not shifting resources from most productive to least productive? Greatest good for all? Musk’s “true socialism” sounds sort of like capitalism.
both Bentham and Mills were elitists, the peons were not a concern, but at least Mills recognized that the wonderful society he foresaw had to have peons, Bentham didn’t, IMO.
Confirms what I always thought which is he lives his life by the maxim: “There is a sucker born every minute...”
Maybe he wont mind if the government completely takes over his business then.
Trump should extent the offer, see what Musk says then.
Yeah.
Every penny hes made is in government grants.
Take away his pipeline to other peoples’ money and he’ll be a failed socialist.
So true - a company willing to do the bidding of the government to bring about the government’s goals. I suppose the contracts and incentives are such that Trump can’t just dump them now.
But socialist/fascist - birds of a feather.
And who, pray tell, decides what the greatest good is for all?
There are some who like the idea of living in a commune, or being part of an all encompassing ‘community’.
Then there are others, of which I am one, who would rather die than to lose their individuality.
These two concepts are so far apart, and so mutually exclusive, such that the only way they can coexist in any political system is if that system is predicated on preservation of the freedom and self-determinism of all individuals. In that type of system, those who wish to live communally can go off together and do so.
Unfortunately, that's not enough for the socialists among us. They want to force everyone to live in their idea of communal utopia. Usually these are the people who see themselves as the ‘leaders’ of any such movement. Everyone will be equal - under them.
Oh, Musk and the rest of Bolsheviks.
Oh big shock.
When is it going to start being shameful, again, to be anything close to a commie?
It that why he’s turned a “profit.”
He’s no socialist. He wants to be a socialist, possibly. He is living as a capitalist and his actions are nothing but. Is he really that obtuse?
Spread the wealth, Comrade.
Godless & Socialist!
What a waste Elon and you disappoint me!
“Elon Musk: I Am a Socialist
New slogan: I make Yugos 2.0. Each car comes with a warning not to drive over the Michigan Mackinaw bridge.
Elon Musk, I’ll believe it when you give away your homes, businesses and your money...until then you are a moronic capitalist.
Yeah we know. Glad you realize it mr. Musk
