Congressional leaders — including Democratic representatives John Lewis, Raúl Grijalva, Jan Schakowsky, Luis Gutiérrez, Pramila Jayapal, and Joe Crowley — staged a sit-in in front of the US Customs & Border Protection offices in Washington, DC.

It was part of the Families Belong Together movement, which protests the Trump administration's policy of separating families who illegally cross the border into the United States. According to the administration's policy, parents seeking asylum are sent to jail before appearing in front of an immigration judge. Their children crossing with them are sent to foster care or government custody. Over 10,000 migrant children are in US government custody at 100 shelters in 14 different states, according to a May estimate.

"Release the asylum seekers and reunite them with their children. End family separation. NOW," representative Jayapal wrote on Twitter. "Every hour that goes by is another hour of trauma for these moms, dads, little boys, girls and babies."

Let’s agree on one thing: Just because a person is a member of Congress, he or she is not necessarily a “leader” in any respect whatsoever.

I’m sure you’re right, but Dem pollsters are the hub of a perpetual circle jerk; they poll one another, find that they agree and publish the results, failing to notice that not all of us are nearly as stupid as they are.

Still waiting for them to care about American families and their children.

Thank you for referencing that article simpson96. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"It was part of the Families Belong Together movement, which protests the Trump administration's policy of separating families who illegally cross the border into the United States [emphasis added]."

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

In video on FN page “Democrats gain entry to NJ immigration detention center after arguing with cops, 'literally banging on the door’," please consider the following.

Starting about 01:30 in the video, President Trump emphatically makes it clear that not only are the so-called Trump Administration policies concerning border families a result of forced compliance with laws that the Democrats made, but that he hates those laws and is willing to help change those laws.

Election year Democratic lawmakers also need to face the problem that some undocumented families crossing border are possibly child traffickers smuggling children.

Corrections, insights welcome.

“Release the asylum seekers and reunite them with their children”

The “asylum seekers” crossed the border illegally and the adults are being held for violating the law. Obviously the children can’t accompany them to jail.

It’s just the same as when a citizen commits a crime; the children don’t go to jail; they re held by another adult. So, should citizens charged with a crime be released if children cannot be placed with another adult?

So, if the adults are released in the US so that children can be re-united released to the parents, there is no effective border if illegals are accompanied by their children.

Obviously, the children have to be shipped back to Mexico after the legal process is completed and the asylum is rejected.

They are polling people who sad to say in America today have the mindset of a 20 something white girl or patronize people with that mindset. That means a 180 degree change is possible at any moment with absolutely no self awareness that any change was made and if you mention such change you are a hater.

To: Alas Babylon!

It always takes the GOP dinosaur time to respond. This is not a hard issue to defuse if the spokespeople would get busy.

Unlike a lot of others, at least he puts skin in the game.

I don’t agree with him. But at least he is doing something which is more than most other whiners.
