ANAHEIM (CNS) - The Anaheim City Council on Tuesday will consider whether to place a measure on the November ballot that would require Disneyland to pay more to the workers on the bottom of its wage scale, after city officials announced today that the initiative had gathered enough signatures to qualify.
The measure would mandate that any company that benefits from city subsidies -- as Disney does -- pay its workers no less than $15 an hour by Jan. 1, 2019, with raises of one dollar per hour each Jan. 1 thereafter through Jan. 1, 2022.
The council could also adopt a new ordinance based on the petition, or it could request staff to conduct an economic impact report on the proposal before deciding whether to let voters have a say Nov. 6.
If the council seeks the study, it would have an Aug. 10 deadline to decide whether to put it on the Nov.

Disney is good at robotics.
Just saying.
I wouldn’t shed a tear if it closed down.
;)
It’s the poor suckers who go to Disneyland that end up getting screwed. I suspect Disney will bend over to Anaheim’s demands and pay $15 even $20 ah hour. Or more.
Meanwhile admission costs are triple digits. Just to get in the damn place.
Thank you. I'm surprised it took six posts to make that point!
If they can charge triple digits and still pack out the place, more power to 'em.
Disney will simply respond by raising ticket prices.
$200 a day per person isnt that far off anyway. In 2018, one park fir one day is $117, which goes up to $167 if you want to go to all parks. During peak times it goes up to $185.
I wouldnt pay that on a dare. Unless Im dating a REALLY hot chick with kids...
California law states that the minimum wage will $12 an hour come 2019 raising $1 per year for the next three years. There after it will be indexed. Essentially Anaheim is dictating that Disney’s starting wages must be $3 higher than the going minimum wage rate for California.
Disney will probably pay up then bring in a big team of Six Sigma Black Belts, improve their processes, automate and then reduce employment from 23,000 to something significantly less than 20,000. Nice going Anaheim!
