They’re not hoping for a recession.

They and their RINO sidekicks are actively working to create one. They’ve done it before.

Yep, that is the real question. What will they do to create the crisis.

Kind of funny in a way - Dems hoping for a recession so they can regain power and if they manage to regain power, we can count on another recession...here’s a place where the circle has been broken and we need to keep it broken...forget the old song.

Hoping? They’re like the prophets of Baal, dancing, praying and cutting themselves, before Elijah called in the arc light strike on them.

“Are Democrats Hoping For A Recession?”

You’re damn right they are. They also root for assassination, impeachment,a nuke bomb attack on one of our cities, a major depression, high unemployment and anything else that hurts America on the Trump watch.

Bill Maher speaking of a recession was in fact revealing his truthful thought. Taken at face value, he was admitting defeat.

The likely and perhaps only way POTUS Trump can be defeated is the event of a recession. Even though he and his Ameritrash viewers long for that recession, he knows it ain't gonna happen

They are hoping/praying for a recession. They are hoping/praying for a depression. They are hoping/praying for nuclear Armageddon.

All because they think it will hurt Trump.

They are calling for a napalm strike on their own positions, except the wind is going to blow the napalm their way. They know it and they still don't care.

I used to laugh when people said that liberalism was a mental disorder. Now I see that it's actually true.

The only way for liberals to stay and remain in power is to produce misery and hardships for others, either directly or indirectly and once this happens pretend to be the ones who can help to correct the problem what really never happens. Unfortunately way too many people are unable to see through this charade and get drawn into this trap of deception until it is too late with the world full of examples. Of course this doesn’t imply that conservatives are always exemplary pillars of righteousness either.

"That a good recession is what the party needs to reclaim its former glory. After all, it did get Obama elected president."

It worked so well for Obama that he kept the recession going for 8 years and blamed it on Bush for all 8 years. Now his advisors are out there trying to take credit for the current economic boom. I've never heard of a President that blames the economic performance of his 8 years in office on his predecessor and then takes credit for the economic performance of the economy of the man who takes his place. That's Obama for you!!

It must be said, notwithstanding the hatred that must lurk in Bill Maher's heart to wish a recession for political gain, that a recession seems like the ONLY thing that can stop a Trump re-election.

As I noted elsewhere, the data are compelling:

The statistical reality is that in modern times, if a recession occurs during or pretty close to a Presidential election year, the standing President OR the Party holding the Presidency always loses that election:

August 1929-March 1933: FDR comes to power
April 1960-February 1961: Kennedy is elected
January 1980-July 1980: Reagan is elected
July 1990-March 1991: Clinton is elected (yea, yea, I know....the recession was technically over by election day but if memory serves me correctly, the NBER didn't call the end of the recession until AFTER the election; indeed, they announced that we were IN a recession around March 1991)
December 2007-June 2009: Obama is elected

In contrast, if the economy is doing well, standing Presidents always win re-election.

Truman won in 1948 (note that recession started during the month of the election, and Truman almost lost)
Ike was re-elected in 1956
Nixon was re-elected in 1972
Reagan was re-elected in 1984
Clinton was re-elected in 1996
Obama was re-elected in 2012**

** - At the risk of sounding Clintonian, for Obama it depends on the definition of the word "well." Certainly, most breathing, rational humans recognize that the US' economic performance under Obama's Presidency vis-à-vis other post-recessionary situations was horrible:

Further, along other dimensions, life under Obama was pretty bad around the 2012 election:

Nonetheless (and please, don't take this as me applauding Obama), the economy and the stock market were growing vs contracting, unemployment was declining vs rising in 2012. Add having the media and entertainment industries in his pocket, and you get a re-election. However, as pointed out elsewhere, Obama won ONLY by about 350,000 votes.

The Trump Economic Train is pretty amazing: a record-low unemployment situation, people from all walks of life are doing better, and so on. It seems unstoppable, and the best the opposition can do is roll out Cruella de Pelosi to ramble incoherently.

We can say what we want about Maher, but the reality is that "It's the economy, stupid!" is a pretty solid political truth. While I don't think Trump will lose re-election, we cannot take our foot off the gas: Deplorabilism must continue to grow in size and stature for the betterment of all Americans, regardless of race, creed, national origin, fast-food and other preferences and so on.

The only way they can cause the sort of upheaval they need to usher in the Socialist revolution is through total economic collapse. Not hardship, collapse.

They want something even bigger and immediate than the Great Depression and someone even more hardline than FDR.

The Democrat Party has degenerated to the point that it is motivated almost solely by a naked lust for power that trumps all else!

Hell fire, they gave us the last recession INTENTIONALLY, in order to win in 2008. REMEMBER 2006? The economy was ROARING, GW Bush had been prez for 6 years and dim-0s controlled NOTHING!

THEN came the election of 2006, dim-0s running for control of congress promising CHANGE! They won, and we got change alright.Within a year we were in recession. After 2 years, obama won the presidency and transformed the recession, into the GREAT recession. After 8 years of obama, we had MORE people not working, though the lying dogs claimed an unemployment rate of under 5%, than we had when he started and the number was over 10%!!

Barney Frank got a piece of young male ass in exchange for fighting Boooosh over Fannie and Freddie.

And Jamie Gorelick got 25,000,000 pieces of silver.

Democrats AGAIN sabotage the economy for political power as they did in shielding Freddie and Fannie’s 2006 collapse from investigation

Of course Democrats had to cover it up. Clinton administration insiders Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick were all over that one.

Wait till gas prices start coming down in September. I would love to see gas at 1.69 per gallon during campaign season with the caption, lowest gas prices in 20 years.

Of course many (probably even most) leftists are hoping for, even trying to bring about a recession. They lust for power and control, they don’t care how they get it or who has to get hurt for them to get it. They believe their ends justifies any means. So if an entire Country of “little people” has to get hurt to further their agenda, so be it. Leftists are political sociopaths.
