I have to say: Donal Trump could put an end to all this and bring juatice to a head quickly and legally! Trump could demand Sessions release all requested documents to the Congress. IF those documents reveal collusion on the part of the Deep State to influence a presidential election, Trump could order Sessions to appoint an Independent Counsel to conduct a thorough investigation.
It is becoming more and more obvious that the top Deep State will likely skip-to-malou on all this possible seditious activity, and Trump only hopes to earn laurels via peace on the NorKor peninsula, equalizing trade imbalances and domestic social and economic changes.
I for one cannot accept this ruination / corruption of the finest form of govt ever instituted in recorded world history. We should have seen this acceptance of our political degradation coming when Lois Lerner retired peacefully to her million dollar home ... with full retirement and benefits!

I am not able to intelligently comment about the Sessions situation and the scenario you propose. I have too little data to be able to hold forth on that! But what you say sounds plausible.
I guess I’m still hoping that the whole thing with Sessions being the public whipping boy is an act to get people to awaken and DEMAND from the DOJ those documents. That way it is not on DJT who ripped off the bandage - or even a unilateral act by Sessions, but the people themselves who have demanded it. Just a thought.
I’m hoping that your vision for preserving the Republic is what happens. We all here are dedicated to that end. We may see different ways of achieving it, but that, after all, is the essence of America: Debate and find the best way.
Right now the system is broken, and it will be a near thing to save our Republic. But for the first time in DECADES it is even possible. I rejoice in that, and just try do whatever I can do for the Cause in my little corner.
But it is true, as I said before, we MUST re-establish not only the Rule of Law, but the general understanding of its necessity.
I want the grandchildren to have the Republic also.
