'Star Wars': Boba Fett Movie in the Works With James Mangold
Hollywood Reporter ^ | May 24, 2018 | Borys Kit

The hunt is on.

James Mangold is writing and will direct a Star Wars stand-alone movie centered on Boba Fett, the feared bounty hunter and fan-favorite character, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.

The reveal comes as Disney and Disney-owned Lucasfilm prepare for the release of the latest Star Wars stand-alone film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. Solo, which opens Friday, is the second movie to be spun from the main Star Wars line — Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was the first — but it is the first to focus on a particular character.

Lucasfilm is developing movies on a slew of characters including Obi-Wan Kenobi, which has Stephen Daldry in negotiations to direct, although no writers are working on a script.

It was rumored that Simon Kinberg, the writer-producer behind the X-Men franchise and films such as The Martian, was working on a Boba Fett movie. While Lucasfilm and Disney won’t make any official confirmation, sources say that Mangold will co-write the script with Kinberg, who will also produce the Boba Fett project. Kinberg and Mangold are close, having worked on Logan, the X-Men spinoff that earned high praise last year.

“You a fan of the Fett?”
“No I’m more of a Star Wars guy”

Why? This character doesn’t need his own movie.

Emasculated "Bobafetta":

The next abomination and financial Soy Wars disaster brought to you by Disney Rat and SJW Kathleen Kennedy.

Don't you love it; Han Soylo is critically and financially tanking/bombing at the box office. Most Star Wars fans hate it and Disney Rat and SJW KK are already moving on to destroy another beloved SW character!

When Star Wars really took off in 1977, the original projection was for 9 movies to eventually be made, which I thought was ridiculous. I never imagined that this stupidity would metastasize like this.

The series ended for me with the inane Muppet episode of Return of the Jedi.

Here is Boba Fetts baby pictures.

Boba Fett’s high school prom.

Boba Fett gets his first helmet.

Can anybody write in Hollywood anymore? Is there not one original thinker who can come up with an original movie? What a load of crap.

When does Chewbaka get his own Disney SW bio?

May the next SW movie will be about R2-D2. We see the engineers designing his elcrptrical plan sheets. The computer programers going through their paces writing his code. Then the scene where the Project Engineer and the Project Manager have a HUGE fight over whether to make him white with blue trim, or red trim, or purple. Then we see the highly comical scenes debugging his programming. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, that is my favorite scene, espcially where his head spins around and around like in the Exorcist. I cant wait for this movie. A sure Oscar for best picture AND best actor!

Cue the Jar Jar binks bio movie. A MUST SEE.

I also cant wait for the Ewok King.

The guy in the bar scene in the original Star Wars who gets his arm cut off by Obi-wan Kenobi, really needs his own movie? Why is he so hostile? Did he hate his mother? Inauiring minds need to know.

Maybe a tauntaun should have his own movie.

I am sure one of Darth Vader’s Imperial Guards in red would have had a wild life to recap.

Wow, so many movie ifeas... So little time...

I don’t get the millennial’s fascination with Boba Fett. In the original trilogy, he was a minor, incompetent and doomed character, known mostly for giving a giant ant lion indigestion after being defeated in a manner reminiscent of the Three Stooges.

The prequels gave him a bizarre importance, making him a blood relative of all the storm-troopers, until, whoops! the storm-troopers are of all different races. (Jenga Fett was studiously multiracial, so an army of clones could still be racially diverse in a PC way.)

Will they go so far as to show Uncle Owen and Aunt Veru and how they hooked up?

They'll make it X-rated and Aunt Veru will be played by Stormy Daniels.

Since we know from the existing movies that instead of having a child in the traditional way, Jango Fett has a clone made of himself (Boba Fett) who then sees his “father” killed in a rather grisly way, I can only guess how sexually messed up Boba Fett is going to be.

When Star Wars came out I was a teenager in the Air Force and I really liked the first movie. It was a great distraction from the pressures of my duty and I thought the next two were good, then when I heard they wanted to make three prequels and three sequels I was enthused.

The fourth movie came out (Episode 1) and I was sorely disappointed. Now, after all the newer movies have come out I am jaded. I only like the first three (Episodes 4, 5, and 6).

To be fair, Boba Fett actually was pretty popular during the 1980s by Star Wars fans, and in fact, he kind of came back from the dead with the Dark Empire series of comics.

The dialog will be awesome.

Same here. And 6 is iffy. The muppets ruined the ethos for me.

The Muppets were a bit over the top but I still enjoyed the movie. I went to those movies as a relaxing distraction and liked them, the first one especially because at that time the special effects were really good. They were fun movies.

The next three movies took themselves way too seriously and were horrendous. The PC content of the last episodes turned me off.
