I agree. As someone who really loves to have the latest and greatest, these devices scare the begeebees out of me. Since I heard they used it in a murder case back East … not that I’d ever be involved in a murder case... but.... ;)

I hate when people use my email - that I pay for - to sell me garbage I don’t want. I spend hours just deleting messages. Well maybe not hours, but a lot of time.

Why do you think so many of them come with Google built-in and require Google to use all the features?
I bought two phones (identical) at Wal-Mart a few years ago. One as a backup (which is good because the other one you’d make a call and couldn’t hang up - went bad, obviously).
BOTH (of course) phones require Google to use full services. The 2nd one was on automatic voice recognition the instant I set it up.
Price paid? $8.92 with a bigger screen (not huge) but good enough for web browsing.
Ask yourself why such technology is available for under $10.
But, of course, I wear a tinfoil hat.
And what is stopping it from happening intentionally as the system is hacked?
Or as the government takes control of the system?

Unplug the danged thing unless you are using it. These things are not your friends.

Along those same lines, turn off all of Google snooping unless you need it. It’s more than just location...just remember what you do so you can undo it if you need to.
Revelation 13:16-17 does not describe forced reception ... the majority of the people will willingly stand in line to ‘buy and sell’... This is the first tribulation of mass deception...

I recall a Disney movie maybe 20-25 years ago about a smart house that started off being a convenience a family won in a contest and eventually the house assumed more and more control over their lives.
I haven’t trusted “smart” things since then.
This season “The X-Files” did an episode about this that was almost without dialog.

Mass deception ... causeth 'all' but the elect to worship (they believe he is who he claims to be, and they willingly 'work', right hand for him... thus they are allowed to 'buy and sell'. It is all about religion... come worship me, I am Jesus...
